At Statera Counseling, we focus on counseling for students with disabilities in the public and private schools in Louisiana
Pre-Employment Transition Services for Students
The purpose of pre-employment transition services is to help prepare high school students, ages 16-21, for post-graduation success. It is well known that people with disabilities have a higher unemployment rate after graduating from high school and beyond. The aim of transition services is to start early and give these students a chance to prepare, explore, and experience opportunities that will increase their transition into the working world while they are in high school.
Pre-employment transition services are individualized and include counseling and teaching students about important topics like self-advocacy, work readiness, post-secondary opportunities training, and job exploration counseling.
Job coaches work with students and coordinate with teachers and parents on a regular basis. In order to assist students with future opportunities, it is important to understand each student’s exceptionality, interests, abilities, and values. Collaborating with parents, teachers, and students is the comprehensive approach we take at Statera Counseling.
