Counseling for Teens and Young Adults

Treating teens and young adults with anxiety and depression in Zachary, Louisiana

Are you out of ideas of how to manage your teen?  Or, are you a teen/young adult and you feel overwhelmed with worry or sadness?

As a parent, you may be concerned because they rarely ever come out of their room, perhaps they’ve stopped talking to you all together about how they’re feeling anymore. They may be struggling to get through the day or simply finding a sense of peace. Perhaps they’re feeling alone & like no one understands.

Whatever it is that they’re experiencing, you’ve begun to notice the impact of your teen’s anxiety or depression in every facet of their life: friendships, school, family relationships & overall mood…and you’re wondering what to do.

As a teen or young adult, have you just gone through a recent break-up?  Having a difficult time in school or college?  Is your self-esteem at an all time low?  Being bullied?  Maybe  you are struggling just to get through the day because it feels like the days never end.  This leaves you feeling alone, like no one understands.

Whatever your exact circumstances, you’ve begun to feel the toll of your anxiety or depression.  It’s affecting your friendships, school, family relationships & overall mood…and you’re wondering what to do.

Therapy can help

It may feel impossible now, but you can find real happiness. You can have a life free of this pain and sadness. You can go on to live a happy, well-adjusted, successful life. And I can help you get there

Therapy for teens and young adults helps do 3 things:

  • Identify the root of the issues you’re facing and path to recover.

  • Learn ways to express yourself and cope with your emotions in a healthy, productive way.

  • Build your self-esteem, develop coping strategies and have a better understanding of who you are so you can move forward and have a life of success.

I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to therapy comes from a place of empathy and hope: believing that you already have the tools you need for success, but you just need some guidance to get there.

Being totally overwhelmed and anxious or depressed do not have to be your story

FAQ’s

Q: What are teen and young adult therapy sessions like?

A: We talk on the phone so I can determine your needs and see if I’m a good fit.  If so, I will email you initial paperwork and set an appointment to meet either in person or online for the initial assessment.  Here, I will gather background information to help determine a diagnosis and we will develop a treatment plan together. Sessions consist of talk therapy, skill building and teaching you tangible strategies that you can use immediately to find relief.

Q: How long do you need to be in therapy?

A: It really depends on your needs and what is happening in your life. Sometimes there are specific situations that are causing your issues which calls for a shorter course of treatment. If you have been battling anxiety or depression for a long time, you could expect to go for multiple months.

Q: How do I know if therapy will work for me?

A:If you are open to making changes, challenging old thought patterns, seeing situations from a different perspective, and receiving feedback, you will begin to feel more empowered, more at peace, and in control of your life. The goal is for you to feel better about yourself and have a better path after your therapy with me.

Q: How do we get started?

A: All you need to do is reach out to me by message, phone call, or email and we can set up a free consultation to determine if your needs are something I can help with. Once we determine that, we will schedule an initial assessment to meet and begin treatment.

Q: What are the costs of counseling sessions?

A: My fees per session are $125 per session and I bill insurance.  I take Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Optum. If you have a co-pay, you will pay this amount per session.  If you have full coverage, you will pay nothing and I will bill insurance for you. If you have not met your deductible, you will pay the full $125 until your deductible is met and your insurance kicks in.  If you are paying out of pocket, the price is the full $125 per session.  *I do offer a sliding scale based on ability to pay; this is determined on a case-by-case basis, it’s based on my discretion, and it’s limited according to my caseload at the time.
